A loan of $350 helped buying balanced feed for fowl.

Rosa's story

Rosa is a 59-year-old homemaker who lives with her husband and the family of one of her seven children in the hamlet of Los Bances, in the Pacora district, located 90 minutes from the city of Chiclayo. She raises and sells animals; she tells us that she started her business because her husband's job, in agriculture, did not give her enough to maintain the ongoing basic family needs. Rosa raises sheep and fowl (ducks, chickens, turkeys) and she sells them to the merchants who visit the area every three months. The money she makes helps with her family's daily expenses. The raising of ducks has increased considerably, but Rosa does not have enough resources to feed the birds well. Thus, she has requested her first loan of PEN 1000 to Kiva partner Edpyme Alternativa with which she will buy balanced feed. Rosa dreams to be able to fix her home since the rainy season is approaching and her house always suffers considerable damage from the bad weather. She's optimistic, hard-working, and very entrepreneurial.
