A loan of $1,100 helped purchase vegetables and food for her diner.

Carmen Alicia's story

Sra. Carmen Alicia S. O. is 25 years old. She sells food, natural fruit ice cream, and pork carnitas. She started her business 7 years ago selling carnitas, but she had the opportunity to acquire a vending space at the San Juan Sacatepequez Market. At that point, she had the idea to enlarge her business by adding a diner she named “La Bendición” (The Blessing).

Carmen is requesting this loan because she wants to increase the sales of her diner. She also sells clothing, but needs additional capital to acquire more inventory. Carmen is a hardworking woman, having to spend the mornings and afternoons cooking at her diner and then afterwards make large batches of ice cream for delivery. Her dreams include finishing the construction of her house and finding a good nursery school for her 2 year old child. She strives to maintain her business since this helps improve her living conditions.
