A loan of $1,050 helped buy cattle.

Pastora's story

Pastora is a member of the Ciudad Nueva Communal Bank in the Pilcuyo district, El Collao province, Puno region. She is 43, in a common law marriage, and has one child who goes to school. She has an elementary school education.

She has worked with the Movimiento Manuela Ramos for three years. She has been buying and selling cattle since she was 16 years old. Her first loan was for 300 PEN, which she used to buy sheep because it was not enough to buy cattle. She does not buy and sell cattle everyday. So she raises small animals at the same time. She also farms for her own consumption. She is asking for a loan for 3,000 PEN. She is planning on buying a bull.

She is responsible in her communal bank. She likes the punctuality and the savings, which are very helpful.

Her desire is to have a greater number of cattle and to get greater earnings.
