PUCALLPA, Peru / Food Production/Sales

A loan of $1,050 helped working capital increase.

Estela's story

Estela, 35, lives with her husband, who is a teacher, and their three children, who are students. She has a small stand in front of her house where she sells juices, drinks, sandwiches and chicken soup every day from 7 to 11 in the morning. She's had this occupation for the past 2 years but she also works weekends on her farmlands; she farms 9 hectares of palm. What she likes about her work is keeping busy but, above all, being able to relate to people from other places. Besides, it is quite profitable because her stand is well located and her sales are satisfactory. For the future, Estela would love to have her own restaurant. This is her 8th loan with MFP and what she most likes about her communal bank is that the members are organized and very responsible with their work. Estela will use the money to buy more food and to buy natural fertilizer for her palms.
