A loan of $225 helped to purchase two sheep.

Elvira's story

Mrs. Elvira is a member of the Community Bank “Miraflores,” of the district of Pilcuyo, province of El Collao, in the department of Puno. She is 64 years old, is married, and has two children who focus on advanced studies. She completed part of her secondary school education (through the third year of secondary school).

She has been working with the ManueL. Ramos Movement for 2 years, and has been dedicated to the buying and selling of sheep for 10 years. Her first loan was for $175 (500 Nuevas Soles) with which she bought 2 sheep. As this activity isn’t daily, she is also dedicated to the raising and selling of cattle and farming for her own family's consumption.

She requires a loan of $225 (600 Nuevas Soles) in order to buy 2 sheep at the Pilcuyo fair that she will then resell in Ilave.

She likes to go to the meetings of her Community Bank because she has the opportunity to save and share with her friends.

Her greatest desire is that her children finish their studies and become useful contributors to society.
