A loan helped to purchase biofertilizers, calcium, zinc, etc. and to pay his helpers.

Santos Gilberto's story

Santos has worked for many years of his life in the field of coffee. On his small farm, he has a distribution of different types to have a great variety presented at the time of sale. Although there is an area designated for basic grains, these are for his own consumption. His small farm is 2.46 hectares which, with the help of his wife, he manages in the northern region of Nicaragua in the city of Jinotega, where he lives with his wife and child. His farm is Fairtrade certified, which means a commitment to the environment, and he has an area preserved with irrigation which contributes to the production of his land.

In the last three years, he has been benefited by three loans from PAC, which he has paid off on time and appropriately. For this loan cycle, with the PAC technical team, he has designed a plan of nutritional improvement for 1.05 hectares of coffee, for which he will offer a stable job to members of his community. The requested funds will be invested in the purchase of biofertilizers, calcium, zinc, etc. and to pay his helpers.

With the support of his family, he has been able to maximize the resources and production on his farm, stabilizing his family situation and supporting the community. Santos's dream is to have a model farm, on which he can share his experience with other farmers and improve his family's well-being.
