This group consists of ten, very responsible and cooperative, persons who, six years ago, saw the need to invest in some type of business in order to contribute to the support of their households. As examples we have Mrs. Benedicta S. who makes and sells variously flavored yoghurts according to her customers' wishes; she also sells various fruit nectars. She has a lot of demand so the funds she receives will be used to buy an ice chest. This has allowed her to support her son in his empolyment agency. She is a very active group member and, because of that, she was selected to be the group president. As group treasurer, Elsa Dávalos is concerned that the group makes punctual repayments. As a dance teacher, she noticed that renting costumes could be a profitable enterprise so she began to make them herself and then rent them to her students and others. This work has given her much satisfaction. Like them, the other group members have different lines of work to which they are dedicated with much enthusiasm and effort because one of their most important objectives is to proviD. their families with sustenance and good education.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
