A loan of $550 helped to buy shoes, jeans, blouses, shirts, socks, underwear, and purses.

Etna Azucena's story

The Mujeres del Nuevo Milenio Communal Bank is located in the Montecristi district of the pretty and productive province on Manabí in the coastal region of Ecuador. This region is characterized by craftsmen who make the famous straw hats known throughout the whole world, its typical dishes, the natural beauty, and the kindness of the people. The bank was formed by enterprising women looking for a better quality of life with their families.

Etna Azucena P. is an active member of the Mujeres del Nuevo Milenio Communal Bank. She is a retired teacher. She lives with her daughter and her four grandchildren. At her 80 years of age, she makes handicrafts like flowers in material, and she embroiders with thread and wool. It is so interesting that she still has time to sell her merchandise and participate in the teachers’ chorus, which has already recorded a record.

Etna Azucena is very hard-working. Her sister, who lives in the United States, got her involved in selling silk bathrobes with fine embroidery to her friends and former colleagues from the area. Each robe costs two payments of $28 each.

Our member is asking for a new loan to buy jeans, blouses, shirts, jackets, underwear, socks, purses, and shoes for women, men, and children. She wants to be completely stocked for the Christmas season.
