Meri's story

Meri, 53, is a member of the “Patrón San Roque” communal bank located in the Sacanche district, Huallaga province, San Martín department. She is in a common-law marriage and has three children, one of which still depends on her. For the past 10 years, self-motivated and seeking ways to generate income and thanks to her hard-working and enterprising nature, she began to sell home-made popsicles. She tells us that she is doing quite well and little by little has grown her customer base. Currently, she continues with the same business because her customers realize that the product she offers is very well received and, above all, that they are treated with kindness, which is her trait. With this 3,000 sol loan she will buy ingredients for her product preparation like sacks of sugar, boxes of milk and fruits which are needed daily for her popsicle production. Every day she counts on the variety of her products to capture more customers. Meri feels very strong to continue to work and perservering day to day. She is grateful to the Manuela Ramos Movement for helping women like her to have the opportunity to develop in their areas of interest.
