A loan helped to improve the conditions of her house.

Johana's story

Johana is a Guna descendant entrepreneur from the community of Curti, located in Darien province in Panama.

She is a hard-working and highly motivated indigenous farmer who is a leader and role model in her community. Her dream is to expand the business production and turn her farm into a sustainable farm that provides for her parents and her two children.

Being a leader of her community, Johana studies education in order to fulfill her dream of becoming the principal of a kindergarten in her community to supply the demand of the women that want to work in their own businesses, giving them more time to focus on it while their children are attended to properly.

Johana is also involved proactively with different projects in her community: she's the president of the community bank, the Community Health worker, and also part of the water committee in Curti.

She needs a loan of 600 USD in order to build the floor of her house since the actual one is made of dirt, so she and her two children can be safer and comfortable.

Thanks to business consultations and training by volunteers from Global Brigades, Johana has been empowered in topics such as financial literacy, business consultations, and credit management.
