Maritza's story


Maritza, 45, is a dynamic, hard-working woman who is the mother of five adult children. She lives in the city of Pucallpa, Ucayali region. She sells shoes and wallets from her home. Her husband supports her efforts and works selling lumber. She has been a member of the "Carmen Cabrejos" communal bank for the past 8 years. Her first 300 sol loan was used to buy shoes. Currently, she needs a 3,000 sol loan which will be used to buy shoes and articles of clothing since she has a small shoe making workshop in her home. Maritza's goal is to have a little store, well-stocked with clothing and shoes, where she can offer her merchandise.
