A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve harvests of maize.

Kennedy's Group's story

Pictured above is Kennedy, often described as an extremely hardworking individual. He is 40 years old and has 6 children. As a group leader, he is representing his group of 14 farmers in Webuye District, Kenya.

Kennedy is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund again as this means that he is able to earn enough to feed his family, which is why he decided to join in the first place. Kennedy says that he is happy to have made that decision because, since he first joined in 2015, he has had a healthier life due to better nutrition, which has improved his day-to-day life significantly. Kennedy will use the profits from this season to rent more land to cultivate in.

The group will use this loan to purchase seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 6.25 acres. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of 6 solar lights.

In this group: Kennedy, Everlyne , Geofrey , Jackson , Jane , Levi , Josack , Catherine, Eunice, Joram, Stephen, Alex, Patrick, Sarah

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
