Fati is a 37 year-old married mother of six children who are in school. She lives with her husband and children in a rented apartment in a town called Kade in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Kade is a commercial town. However, the majority of the inhabitants farm as a hobby or as a major occupation alongside other trading activities. Fati is a food vendor. She prepares and sells a local dish called tuo – zaafi, TZ for short. It is served hot with soup. She sells in the morning in her community. Fati buys the goods from nearby communities. She has been in business for eleven years and wants a loan to procure bags of maize and other ingredients in bulk to expand her business.
