A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as high-quality, certified seeds, to improve her horticulture farming and increase her income.

Jackline's story

Jackline is a resourceful mom who works raising animals and horticultural crops. She started practicing mixed farming five years ago out of economic necessity. She grows maize and also keeps dairy cows. She has gained a lot of experience through these years of farming.

Although Jackline has been making profits through farming, not everything has been easy for this humble and industrious mother. Her farm has not been producing much of a harvest lately due to lack of fertilizer, lack of good seeds, and the presence of pests and diseases.

Jackline is seeking a loan to buy certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to improve her horticulture farm and increase the output.

Since Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in input availability.

Jackline loves the way Juhudi carries out its operations in her area and feels inspired to borrow from the Kiva society. She is thankful for your goodwill and looks forward to changing her life this year.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
