Samwuel is 46 years old and married with five children. He sells charcoal in the Mathare slums and employs one person. He's been in business for 13 years and has successfully completed several previous loans. He also runs a photography business and has his own studio. He is now requesting a loan of Kes. 50,000 to buy charcoal worth Kes. 40,000 and film and batteries for his photography studio.
In the future, Samuel hopes to set up a distribution centre for charcoal in the area and invest in a car to transport charcoal from the source. He would also like to own a home. He describes himself as persevering, hardworking, and goal-oriented and says that loans from Faulu have kept his business productive enough to feed his family.
