A loan of $1,150 helped to purchase piglets, fowls and feed and to cultivate crops for sale.

Zie's story

M. is married with five children and lives in Alabukam, a quarter in Bamenda, Cameroon. She will invest her loan in her pig business and in cultivation of crops. She plans to use the loan for increasing her number of pigs and fowls; fixing her pig and fowl stalls; and buying pig and fowl feed. This is M.'s ninth loan. She has been a member of GHAPE since 1999. This loan will help her pig and fowl business to succeed because she will be able to feed her pigs and fowls well, which will result in larger pigs and fowls that can be sold for a greater profit. She will also be able to purchase healthy piglets with access to more capital. She plans to use the manure from her pigs and fowl both for her personal crops as well as to sell in the community.

With the profits from this loan, M. will open a workshop for her daughter. She will also pay her children’s school fees and those of the children of her late sister, and ensure that they are well prepared for school. The training in business management that she received from GHAPE will help her to invest this loan in the most efficient and productive manner.
