Sros Y., 37, is married with four school-aged children. She resides in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, with her husband and children.
Mrs. Y. is engaged in the business of selling chickens and vegetables at a nearby local market in the town and raising pigs at her home, earning approximately US$17 per day. The family is also assisted by her husband who helps his wife at the market and with raising pigs at home.
Mrs. Y. and her husband are seeking to improve their standard of living and to generate a better income. Therefore, Y. is asking for a loan of US$1,000 to buy a motorbike with compartment attached to easily transport chickens to sell. With the remainder, she wants to invest in her pig-raising business. She hopes that her new business of selling chickens will enable her family to generate extra income.
