A loan of $700 helped purchase sandals.

Nelly's story

Nelly is 45 years old and lives with her partner, Enrique, 45, and their four children: Luis, 21; Melisa, 15; Yanira, 19; and Johana, 11. All live very contently in a home they own. Nelly is a very hard-working woman who has made a living selling clothing and accessories for the past three years, an activity that provides the necessary income for her family's well-being. She also loves her work since it relaxes her and makes her feel freer. She spends her day conversing with customers and selling merchandise, and she is still hopeful she can improve her business to earn more income. While many times it can get discouraging, she doesn't stop fighting and keeps making headway because she wants to forge a better future. In the future she wants to have a general store where she can offer varied and innovative products along with the clothing she already sells. This is her second loan with Kiva partner MFP, and she is very content with her work with her community bank group, since all the members have been very responsible with their payments. With the money she is requesting, she plans to purchase sandals to sell in summertime so she can take advantage of the seasonal demand.
