A loan helped a member to purchase a solar light and gain access to cost efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Francis' Group's story

Francis, pictured above, has 2 children and is always described as a very trustworthy person, which is why he was selected to become the group leader of his group. Francis is representing her group of 14 farmers in Sirisia District and is happy to be working with One Acre Fund for the first time this year.

Francis has been a farmer for 15 years and, in order to have access to quality training and acquire new farming methods, he decided to join the One Acre Fund program this season. His loan will not only include farming inputs, but also a solar light, which he is very happy to be getting as that means he will now reduce the consumption of paraffin fuel and therefore save more money. With the profits from this coming season, Francis is planning to invest in a business.

A total of 7.25 acres will be planted by Francis's Group, and between them they will receive a total of 6 solar lights.
