A loan of $2,525 helped a member buy a freezer to better preserve his supplies.

Union Por El Progreso Group's story

Humberto A. is an enterprising and enthusiastic member. He is 56, divorced, and has five grown children. His house is located in the area of Alta Huaycan, Ate district, Lima department. He worked as a miner. He had to change to another activity because the mine in which he worked collapsed and they started strikes.

He has been working with Edaprospo-Prosperidad for two years. He is the president of the Unión por el Progreso Communal Bank. The Communal Bank is comprised of 11 members who are engaged in different activities like recycling, selling clothes, selling food, and having a convenience store and other things.

For eight years Humberto has been selling chicken soup. His business is located near the last HGK stop in Huaycan. With his recent loan he plans to buy a freezer to better preserve his supplies. Up until now he has been able to raise the walls on his house with decent material (bricks), but his goal is to finish building it (put on a roof, lay a floor, etc) in order to later open a convenience store.

In this group: Humberto, Rosa Maria, Marisol, Victoria, Jacinta, Ceci Ana, Jose Luis, Alberto, Lucy Nicolasa, Edgar
