Benedita Consuelo R. S. is a member of the Mejía communal bank which is located in Portoviejo, Manabí province. This is one of Ecuador's most beautiful regions due to its beaches and gastronomy.

Benedita's husband stocks up on product in Manabí and on Mondays and Tuesdays travels in his van to sell his merchandise in the tourist town of Salinas which is 4 hours away from their home. On the return trip he brings back coarse grain salt to sell in other towns along the way back home like Chone, Olmedo, and Santa Ana .
