Fortunata's story

Fortunate is 43 years old. She is a very happy and sincere woman. She lives in a rented house together with her husband Hector who is 35 years old and their 3 children: Dianeth, 13; Gari, 10; and Karem, 6 years old, whom she would like to offer a good education.

Fortunata's business is selling medicinal herbs. This activity has been very profitable and has given her the income necessary to support her family. She buys herbs in bulk to then sell them to her customers. She has a stand located in the Explanada Laguna Temporal (a place where fairs are held in the city of Juliaca), but she prefers selling in her own home, because that way she can take the opportunity to do a healing here or there, when a customer asks for it.

What she likes the best about her work is talking with her neighbors in sales and finding out about the things that happen at the fair. She has been doing this for 20 years and believes that the hardest part is staying all day at her stand because it is tiring and stressful. In the near future she would like to have a store where she can sell at her leisure and do occasional healings.

This is Fortunata's third loan with MFP. She has been very punctual in her previous loans and expects to be so this time as well. In her communal bank she is well loved by her partners because of the happiness she gives to the group. With the one thousand five hundred soles requested she will buy more herbs to increase the quantity of merchandise she sells.
