A loan of $1,075 helped to increase her stock of baby clothes.

Lucy Wanjiku's story

Lucy is a married lady, 34 years old, with two children (Douglas, age 8, and Caleb, age 3 1/2). She was introduced to Kiva Partner KADET through an existing client. She is applying for her 1st loan with KADET. With it, she plans to increase her stock of baby clothes, pullovers, shirts and napkins to sell in her shop. With the extra profit she hopes to earn, Lucy wants to purchase a sewing machine (to make cardigans) and a computer.

Her dream is to open a wholesale shop selling clothes. Lucy is determined to grow her business; she is challenged by the fact that her clients prefer competitors with a greater selection. She believes that if her shop is well-stocked, she can attract more buyers who will like a wider variety of items to select from. She describes herself as hard-working.
