ANTONIA T. V. is 46, married, and has 5 adult children. She is a member of the "Mi Progreso" group. She and the other 9 members live in the area of Carabayllo. Señora Antonia has had a motorcycle rickshaw service for 8 months. Everything started when she acquired her vehicle so her youngest son could use it to work. When he had the opportunity to drive a taxi, she knew that keeping the motorcycle put away wouldn't generate any income. She decided to learn how to drive it. She started the process to earn her license, and this is how she started to work. She also offers school service at noon. With her income, she covers part of a car payment that she obtained on credit along with her husband to have the taxi service. The loan she is requesting will go towards the purchase of parts for her car and tires for the motorcycle rickshaw.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
