Soeurn's story

Soeurn, 50, is a married woman who lives with only one beloved children in a village in Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. She is a farmer, and has been cultivating rice to pay for her family’s expenses since 1998. Her husband is a fisherman whos adds to her income. Both of them are able to generate around 4 USD per day.

Soeurn would like to find an additional means of income to support her family’s needs, especially her child’s needs. That is why she is now asking for a 1,500 USD loan through Kiva's field partner KREDIT to buy a hectare of farmland on which to cultivate rice. She hopes lenders will support her in this venture and believes this loan will help her finances by increasing her family's income.
