Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Booyaa's story

Booyaa is fifty-five years old. She is married and has given birth to two children, both of whom are in school. She lives with her children and her husband in a rented apartment in the busy commercial town, Ejura. Ejura is in the Ashanti region of Ghana.

Booyaa works to support her husband financially and to provide for the family. She is a trader. She trades in cereals such as maize, beans, and groundnuts. She procures the goods from nearby communities. Booyaa sells at the local market to food vendors and retailers. She has been in business for over fifteen years and now wants a loan to procure goods in bulk.

She is hopeful that growing her business will allow her to give her children the best education she can afford.
