DAKAR, Senegal / Office Supplies

A loan of $350 helped increasing her working capital.

Aida's story

For five years, Ms. Aida N. has been specializing in selling cosmetics. However, according to events, she has oriented her business toward customer demands, which explains why she devotes all her time to selling school supplies, since classes have started. She lives near the office in Camberene, a town located north of Dakar. She does a lot to help her husband care for her two children. And so, the loan she’s requesting will enable her to grow her monthly revenues by 10,000 francs each month. This is the first loan allocated to her by the U-IMCEC office of Camberene.

Ms. Aida N. is a beneficiary of the agreement between U-IMCEC and the Programme de développement de l'infant et de la famille (PDEF) Seydina Issa Laye. The PDEF seeks to reduce poverty within the community and especially to protect children who come from destitute families. Thanks to this cooperation, the parents of these children can take advantage of loans having more flexible terms compared to ordinary loans. Since the agreement’s kickoff in December 2008, there have been 120 parents who received financing in amounts varying from 50,000 to 150,000 francs.
