Afiafi's story

Afiafi T. is a 55-year-old woman living in the town of Faleasiu Tualesolo. She is married and has 6 adult children. To make a living, Afiafi owns and operates a general store. The main source of income for the business comes from selling both food and daily use products in the local community. Afiafi has been engaged in this business for over 3 years and earns approximately 400 WST a month from these activities.

In 2009, Afiafi joined SPBD to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Afiafi is now requesting a loan of 1000 WST which will be used to purchase new items to expand product offering. This will be the 1st loan taken out by the borrower from SPBD. Afiafi plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her business.

Afiafi was not affected by tsunami which hit Samoa on 9/29/09.
