A loan of $350 helped build a shed to house her animals.

Marilu's story

Marilu is 44 years old and lives in her own home with her husband and children. For the past 3 years, she has been breeding guinea pigs and chickens. Marilu also has a job with the local municipality.

Every morning, Marilu feeds her animals and then returns at noon to give them their second ration. On the weekends, she selects the animals to sell at the local fair. In addition, she has a few customers who come to her house to buy their animals. Another option Marilu is considering is to sell to people who prepare banquets in which guinea pigs and chickens are served. She has already started looking for contacts in this area. Marilu has the help of her husband and children to look after her animals. Her greatest desire is to have a place that meets the quality standards necessary for breeding animals.

Marilu is taking her fifth loan with MFP. She is thrilled to be a member of her Communal Bank and renews her promise to make her payments on time. The money she is requesting will be used to purchase wood and metal fencing in order to build a shed to house her animals. She also would like to acquire more fertile guinea pigs for breeding.
