A loan of $1,000 helped to buy a big fishing boat.

Ngoun's story

Ngoun S., 33, is married with two school-aged children. She resides in Kompong Chnang Province, Cambodia with her husband.

To make a living, she sells breakfast, including coffee and Chinese noodles, to her existing and new customers, earning an income of US $3. She has to get up early in the morning every day to prepare her food shop while her husband goes fishing at a big lake in the province. S.’s husband is skilled in producing Cambodian traditional fishing traps, so he is able to catch a lot of fish to sell at the local market, earning an income of US $4 per day, which is the primary source of income of the family.

This couple is seeking to improve their standard of living and to generate more income, so Ngoun is asking for a loan of US $1000 to purchase a big fishing boat for her husband's fishing business. The boat will also enable her husband to transport goods to her shop easily.
