Maximina Florisa's story

Maximina Florisa H. D. F., 67, lives in the Trujillos district, Trujillo province, La Libertad department, Perú. She belongs to the San Luis Communal Bank. She has a first graD. education. Her parents sent her to school to learn how to write her name, read a little, and to learn how to sign her name because they believed that was all that was necessary to later start working. She started working in the fields and at home when she was little. She has two grown daughters who are not economically dependent upon her.

Maximina sells prepared dishes, beer, soft drinks, cheese, “quesillos” (local cheese), and “manjar blanco” (a sweet caramel maD. from condensed milk, similar to dulce D. leche) in the restaurant in her house.

With her first loan for 300 PEN she bought sacks of rice, sacks of potatoes, soft drinks, wholesale beer, cheese, “manjar blanco”, and “quesillos” to sell in the restaurant that she has installed in her house. With this loan for 3,000 PEN she will buy sacks of rice, sacks of potatoes, soft drinks, wholesale beer, cheese, “manjar blanco”, and “quesillos” .

She dreams of increasing her sales to be able to get greater income to make her business grow.
