A loan helped to buy seeds and fertilizers to start horticultural farming and use the profits to secure her future.

Esther's story

Hello, lenders. Meet this passionate smallholder farmer, Esther.

Esther is married to a handsome husband, with whom she works closely to meet the basic needs of their family. They live with their children in the area of Nyahururu. Esther's enterprises include dairy and poultry farming.

For more than 11 years, Esther has depended entirely on a milk, goat and eggs business for the sustenance of her household. She has idle land near her house where she used to plant Napier grass for her cows.

Esther has proposed to her better half that they could start a horticulture enterprise in order to utilize the manure from dairy and poultry farming. Her hubby has bought the idea.

Esther has been following closely the activities of Juhudi Kilimo, and she is excited that she can borrow money from Kiva lenders to buy seeds and fertilizers for her new enterprise. She believes she will make good profits and be able to repay her loan.

Esther has thanked her lenders in advance for their kind gesture.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
