A loan of $1,200 helped to add to her stock of stationery supplies.

Mariam's story

Mariam is married with three children. She has been in business for the past ten years. She runs a stationery and school supplies shop in Dar es Salaam. Her shop stocks general stationery (files, ball-point pens, marker pens, counter books, flip charts, office pins, paper clips, paper punches, etc.)

Mariam thanks all the lenders of her first loan with Kiva, which she has finished repaying. With the loan she was able to start selling primary and secondary schools textbooks. Mariam is pleased because the turnover of textbooks is high, especially in the months of January/December and June which are new semester months.

Mariam is requesting a second loan with Kiva of USD 1200 to replenish her stock of general stationery and textbooks. She has recently shifted to a new business location after the former premises she was renting was sold to a new owner. She had a hard time reorganizing herself in a new location.
