A loan of $575 helped stock her inventory.

María Dolores's story

María Dolores A. Z. lives in the Zacatecoluca municipality in the La Paz department. María lives with her husband and her two daughters; Jazmín, 11; and Marlene, 7.

María is a very ingenious woman in running her businesses. She uses her time very optimally to be able to take care of her family at the same time that she generates income. Every morning María makes “pupusas” (flatbread stuffed with meat, cheese, or vegetables). After this hard work for her business, she leaves to sell. She is a traveling salesperson, and she sells on the streets and in nearby districts. She sells a variety of shoes and vitamins. When it starts to get dark, María returns home where her various household chores await her. She also needs to take care of the pigs that she is fattening to sell for a good price during the Christmas season.

The loan that María is asking for is for her business as a traveling salesperson. She wants to get new wholesale merchandise where she can get a greater margin of earnings.
