A loan of $350 helped to purchase seed.

Leonides's story

Leonides is a 52-year-old woman. She has 3 children, but only lives with the youngest, in her own home. Together with her partner, she cultivates peas, potatoes and lettuces. In the case of the lettuces, she prefers to only tend them half-way because she feels they are very labor intensive and require a lot of patience. For that reason, she passes on the land and the seed to another person (her partner) and he is then in charge of making it productive. Meanwhile, Leonidas focuses on the potatoes and peas. In about three months, when the lettuces are ready, together with her partner, they harvest their products which are then sent to one of the markets in Lima. If it's Summer season, their profits are larger. Leonides is very happy to count on an honest partner who repays her by producing a larger yield. This is her first loan with MFP. It was she who organized all her associates to form their own communal bank where, besides being able to secure loans, they also have life insurance and this is one of the features that Leonidas likes best of all. The funds she is seeking now will be used to buy seed for her next lettuce planting.
