A loan helped to rent more farmlands and buy seeds and fertilizers for rice farming.

Alex's story

Alex is a 28-year old rice farmer from the rice-growing community of Weta, in the Volta Region of Ghana. He lives with his wife and child in Weta.

Alex, who has been growing rice for the past seven years, wants to increase his yield in order to meet growing demand. Thus he wants to increase his area of cultivation.

A loan to Alex will enable him to rent more lands and buy additional inputs (mostly seeds and fertilizers) for rice farming. With his sufficient years of experience, he is in a good position to ensure efficient use of the loan.

Alex assures Advans Ghana that he will be very responsible with his repayments, since Kiva lenders are contributing to his ability to acquire more farmland.

This loan is special because:

It supports rural farmers who traditionally have limited access to funding.
