A loan helped to expand a hand loom business by making and selling more varieties of saris.

Malina's story

Malina, 36, is a resident of the Nadia district of West Bengal who wants to support her husband to make saris and sell them. Her husband collects raw thread from the market, makes the thread into the finished material and fits them in the "tana", which is a part of the handloom machine, and makes saris.

She has a household size of 3 and a monthly income of 8,800 INR and hence wishes to increase her monthly income. The loan amount of 20,000 INR from Gram Bikash Kendra, a field partner of Milaap, will help her to support her husband to make and sell more saris in the local market. With the loan amount, they can purchase more threads, needles and upgrade the tana machine. She is grateful to the lenders for this financial assistance.
