A loan of $875 helped purchase of chicks for raising.

Celeste Alfredo's story

Celeste Alfredo C. was born in Manhiça, she is 56 years old, married and the mother of 7 children ages between 18 and 37. Four of them work and she suports the other three that only go to school, plus a niece that lives with them. She's able to save about 1.500,00MT (U$ 50) per month with the help of her husband and working children.

Celeste left Manhiça years ago with her husband, who was transfered to Namaacha. Two years after her arrival, she starts a business selling meals at stands in the border of the country, which were later closed by the government due to the polution in the area. With the help of a neighboor, who raised chicken, she started doing it herself and saw her chick raising business grow.

This is Celeste's third loan in the amount of 25.000,00MT (U$875) which she'll use to buy more chicks and improve her business. She hopes to pay it in no time so she can ask for another loan in order to buy a pickup van to help with her daily work.
