A loan helped to buy two tons of manure, four bags of fertilizer and an operating budget.

Boubaca's story

Boubacar is a 41-year-old married man and father of four children; the oldest is 12 and the youngest is four. Only one child attends school. Boubacar is a banana grower and is part of an economic interest group (GIE). The GIE's goal is to foster mutual assistance between the banana growers in the region, to facilitate sales and provide a joint guarantee. The members are guaranteed by the President of the GIE.

Boubacar grows his bananas on a 100 m² plot. He produces eight tons of bananas per year. He has the experience to grow his production, but he is constrained by the very high cost of quality agricultural inputs and lack of financial support.

Boubacar plans to use the loan money to buy four bags of good quality fertilizer, two tons of manure and contribute to the operating budget. This will allow him to increase his yield and the quality of his crop.

With the income, Boubacar will be able to pay for his family's healthcare and well-being, and his children's education. In addition, he will be able to make sales to diversify his business and increase his income, so he can build the house of his dreams, and save more for his children's advanced education.
