A loan helped him to buy building supplies.

Santigie's story

This is 25-year-old Santigie, who lives in Waterloo in western rural Sierra Leone. He started his business because he wanted to generate a permanent source of income to support his family and take control of his life. He runs a building-supply company in a busy market area and sells cement, zinc, nails, and locker doors. He has run this business for four years and works from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., six days per week. He says that the main challenges he faces are transporting his goods and intense competition in the market.

Santigie has requested a loan to buy cement, zinc, nails, and locker doors. The extra income he earns as a result of this loan will allow him to expand his business and take care of his family's welfare. In the future, he plans to develop his business further. He thanks Kiva lenders for their support!

This loan is special because:

It provides women with access to funding in areas where there are limited alternative source of finance.
