A loan helped a member to purchase a large supply of palm oil.

Charlotte's Group's story

Founded in June 2010, this borrowing group is composed of six businesswomen who earn a living selling a variety of products. The featured borrower is Khadidiatou, pictured at the right of the photo with her hand raised. She is a 26-year-old married mother of three children -- two girls and one boy.

For several years, Khadidiatou has run a business selling palm oil. She will use this loan to fund a large purchase of 450 litres of oil, while she will resell in smaller amounts from her home and occasionally at the local market. The profits she earns will allow her to help her husband with household expenses, as well as to cover medical and school expenses for their children.

In this group: Charlotte, Francine A. C., Cecile Maia, Khadidiatou, Olive , Nicole
