Jamela's story

Jamela is a resident of Baybay, Leyte. She is married and has three children between 2 to 14 years old. She earns a living through her sari-sari (variety) store. Meanwhile, her husband works as a carpenter. Now, Jamela’s primary concern is her family’s welfare, as she wants to improve her toilet facilities to have a clean and safe environment.

With this, she asks for a loan through Kiva’s field partner, CEVI-Philippines, who promote safe water and proper hygiene to repair their toilet facility. From this loan she will buy materials such as concrete blocks, rebar, sand, gravel, cement, and a toilet bowl.
