A loan helped a member to pay for improved seed and organic inputs which will allow these farmers to escape subsistence by farming a larger area with a higher yield.

Finah's Farmers Group's story

Born and raised in a village in Koinadugu district, Sierra Leone, Finah has been a long-time rice farmer with sufficient crops to support her family of five children. She is a strong married woman who has survived the Ebola crisis and is now on her way to recovery from challenging times.

With the support of a loan from Kiva, she will be able to access improved seeds and organic inputs that will significantly increase her yields, enabling her to take care of and better feed her children. At the same time, the additional profits made from her rice sales will also allow her to continue her petty trader business that she runs during the growing season.

Finah and her fellow farmers in the village are thankful to Kiva and Field Partner Mountain Lion Agriculture for their support and she hopes to get her family out of this trapped cycle of subsistence.

In this group: Finah, Poreh, Saio, Alima, Yemah, Isatu, Finah, Saio, Merah, Manty, Fatmata, Saymanty, Aminata, Tida, Yarie, Yousice, Makasa, Mariam, Finah
