A loan of $425 helped buy citrus fruit plants.

Jorge's story

Jorge, 42, is married and has eight children. Only one child still lives with him and his wife. Since he was very little he has been planting citrus fruits like oranges, tangelos, and tangerines. These products are very profitable for him, especially in summer time when they are in great demand in the capital city of Lima. Therefore, for each trip he prepares 40 or 50 boxes to sell. He sells them for 12 to 15 soles per box. That is how he gets very good earnings. Thanks to that, he was able to educate all of his many children; they lacked nothing. Jorge feels very proud to provide the capital city with his best citrus fruit. He is now planning to revitalize his plants for next year so that his harvest does not diminish.

This is his third loan with MFP. Through his consecutive loans his crops have been growing little by little. This makes him very happy. With the money he is now asking for he will buy 1,500 citrus plans in order to revitalize his crops.
