A loan helped to buy hybrid seeds and fertilizers.

Mary's story

Agriculture plays a major role in the economic growth of Kenya through poverty reduction and creation of employment. For this reason, there is a need to invest in smallholder farmers such as Mary (pictured above) since they play the major role in transforming the economy.

Mary is married and lives with her husband and children in a remote village in the Kerugoya region of Kenya. She started farming when she was young with the aim of giving her family a better lifestyle. She believes that horticultural farming is the most profitable agribusiness, having been involved in vegetable farming for the past eight years. Although she loves farming, not everything has been easy for this humble woman. Her output has been reduced due to the use of low-quality seeds and fertilizers.

Mary is taking this loan so that she can buy hybrid seeds and fertilizers, which she plans to use on her farm.

Through the use of hybrid seeds, she plans to increase her output, which consequently will enable her to make increased profits. She will improve the life of her family and empower her children through good quality education.

Kindly help this hardworking woman realize her dreams.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
