Lilian's story

Lilian is a 33-year-old mother of four. She operates an open-air business in Industrial Area Nairobi where she sells food to employees of the industries. She serves chapati (flat bread), ugali (a hot sticky dough made from maize flour), rice, beans, green grams (mung beans), meat and fish, among other foods.

Lilian is requesting her third loan of Kes 80,000 to add to her stock of wheat flour, cooking fat, cabbage and other cooking ingredients. She hopes to grow her business into a big hotel (restaurant) and start a wholesale shop. On a personal level, she desires to educate her children to university level and to buy her family a home away from the slums.
