A loan helped to purchase fertilizers for her coffee plants so she can help her family financially.

Maria Auxiliadora's story

Maria has been working in the coffee-growing industry for ten years. She started managing her small 4.21-hectare farm a few years ago with the help of her husband. The farm is in the northern part of Nicaragua in the city of Jinotega, where she lives with her 7 children. Her farm has a Fair Trade certification, which shows her commitment to the environment and community.

Since she began working with PAC, she has increased her farm's production. It produced approximately 12000 lbs of coffee in the last cycle. The requested funds will be invested in the next harvest, establishing new area, which is why she needs to buy supplies such as plants and bags and to pay her collaborators.

With the support of her family, she has been able to maximize resources and coffee production on her farm, stabilizing her family situation and supporting the community. This loan will allow her to improve 0.7 hectares of coffee and thus improve production. Maria's dream is to have a model farm where she can share her experience with other growers and improve her family's wellbeing.
