Emilia Custodio's story

Emilia is from Maputo, in the district of Boane, in Mozambique. She is 38, married and has three children aged 16, 6 and 3. The two older ones go to public school in Boane.

She studied until 9th grade but had to drop school due to an unplanned pregnancy. She never left Boane. Her husband still goes to school and works in retail.

Emilia has 9 years of experience in the clothing retailing business (new and used clothes for people of all ages). Her main profit comes from the suits she buys from South Africa and sells to the gentlemen in town. She makes around 20.000,00MT (U$700) per month selling clothes.

This is Emilia's first loan and she is asking for U$900 to buy more inventory for her clothing business. She hopes to be able to fill up the demand and get more clients. Meanwhile, she's been builiding a house with the help of her husband, and she dreams of the day their home will be ready.
