A loan helped to buy a mule for her husband's goods transportation services because a mule can carry more goods than a donkey.

Farzana's story

Farzana is a 39-year-old married woman, living in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. She has requested a loan for her husband; he provides services carrying luggage from one place to another, via donkey cart. He wants to use a mule instead of a donkey, because the mule can carry more goods than the donkey. In this way, he can be able to easily carry more goods in a shorter time, which will become the cause of saving time and increasing income.

Therefore, Farzana has requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner, BRAC Pakistan. She will use the loan amount for her husband to buy a mule, to continue his business in a better way.

Farzana wants to save the excess profit amount. She plans to use these savings for future sudden needs, and for her children's education purposes. She thanks Kiva and its field partner, BRAC Pakistan.

Note: Her husband's donkey and cart was not available for the time being, that is why picture is without business.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Pakistan.
