A loan of $525 helped purchase chikens to send to small town.

Mirna's story

Mirna is a cordial, hardworking woman of 37 who has three young children. She sells chickens and works with her mother. Mirna is charged with delivering the chicken orders to a small town called Roaboya located twelve hours by boat from the port city of Pucallpa. She is able to rely on support from her husband who is a supervisor in a timber business. Mirna has been a member of the communal bank “La Fortaleza” for two years and started out with a loan of 300 soles, which she invested in beauty products. She plans to purchase live chickens to send to the small town with this loan of 1500 soles. Mirna’s goal is to have a stable place where she can open a restaurant and continue contributing to her children’s education.
